Our Humble Roots
Chef Angelo Domenico Patruno grew up in the Southern Puglian countryside where he met and married his wife, Maria. They left Italy in 1988 and settled down in the British territory of Bermuda to work in Hamilton City’s Harbourfront Restaurant.
After the birth of their eldest daughter, they moved to the United States where Angelo’s brother Nunzio was involved in Philadelphia’s restaurant scene. During their stay in Philadelphia, Angelo worked with his brother at the Monte Carlo Living Room on South Street.
Shortly after the birth of another daughter, they moved to the Main Line area to work at the Primavera Pizza Kitchen. In 1996, the family found another home in Hatboro, north of Philadelphia, where Angelo began working for Café La Fontana at the center of the town.
Building a Legacy
In 2000, Angelo decided to go on his own and purchased Ristorante Il Melograno in Doylestown. Since then, he and Maria have successfully managed the restaurant, bringing the flavors of Italy to a diverse mix of customers.
